The Sochin Research Institute is an independent think tank and program implementer that conducts research covering international affairs and theoretical debates in the field of Africa-Asian relations and area studies.

This includes intercontinental relations in the fields of security, diplomacy, economy, political networks, and societal connections. Our research takes a thematic approach to examine the ways in which we can conceptualize these two very different, yet inextricably linked areas of the world.

Our Approach

We study the interactions between countries in a multi-disciplinary and comprehensive way. At SRI, we believe that only context driven and evidence based research leads to the generation of knowledge, paradigm shifts, and the better design of policy interventions.

Our researchers use advanced social science techniques and machine learning tools to interrogate perceptions, attitudes and values. By elevating data into evidence through rigorous statistical analysis, we are able to truly understand the root causes of behaviors as opposed to merely describing symptoms. This approach allows us to go beyond a simple description of a given status quo and instead give insights into relationships and causalities.

Our Values

Intellectual Curiosity

  • We are not misled by preconceived notions about the world. Instead, we seek a true and deep understanding of complex issues

Scientific Rigor

  • We employ research methodologies that are data driven, peer-reviewed, and conform to the highest academic standards.

Relevance

  • Our research inquiries are driven by real-world problems that are not completely or sometimes falsely understood. Our aim is to produce client focused evidence and solutions so they achieve their desired effects.

Creativity

  • We believe in using a multi-disciplinary approach because knowledge derives from complementary sources and viewpoints.
