Rosa S. Ko, Ph.D.

Dr. Ko has worked in academia since 2010 after completing a successful career as a senior civil servant with the U.S. government in Washington DC. She was a senior lecturer in International Relations at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa for five years and also taught part-time at the Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR), Hekima University College. From 2010 to 2013, Dr. Ko was an assistant professor in International Relations at the Catholic University of Korea. She is a seasoned specialist in the theories of international relations in East Asia, Korea Area Studies, quantitative research methodology, operations research, public policy, and collective action in transitional democracies.

In 2003, Dr. Ko was a Yale World Fellow to Peru, which is an international fellowship program at Yale University for rising global leaders. She was a recipient of a Harvard-Yenching Library Research Grant in 2000.

Dr. Ko is a member of the Korean Political Science Association, the East Asia Foundation and The Korean Journal of Area Studies (KJAS) having published in the journal in 2013. Additionally, she is a member of the National Research Foundation of Korea.

Dr. Ko holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, a MSc. in Finance from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in World Politics from the Catholic University of America. Additionally, she studied Arabic and Theology at Yale University for one year.

 

Noah W. Miller

Co-Founder AND DIRECTOR
 

Mr. Miller is a highly experienced communications advisor with a track record of providing strategic communications expertise to governments and assisting with capacity building strategies. He has a deep understanding of the role of communications at the center of government, particularly in the context of post-crisis states such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia and South Sudan. Mr. Miller has experience working on USAID funded projects such as the Project for Good Governance in the Republic of South Sudan where he was a senior strategic communications advisor based in the Office of the President. His research interests include computational propaganda, foreign state and foreign non-state disinformation efforts, and post-truth politics.

Mr. Miller was a Distinguished Visiting Faculty Member at the Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications from 2016 to 2018.

He holds a BSc. in Business Administration from Babson College, a MSc. in Development Studies from The London School of Economics and Political Science, and graduated from the Oxford Advanced Management and Leadership Programme, Said Business School, University of Oxford.

 

Prof. Clara Momanyi, Ph.D.

Prof. Momanyi is a well-known Kiswahili specialist who has spent 30 years in academia. She previously was the Chair of the Kiswahili Department at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She has also taught at Kenyatta University and the Kisii Teacher’s College. While at CUEA, Prof. Momanyi supervised Kiswahili postgraduate students who were enrolled in Masters and Ph.D. degrees. From 2006-2007, she was at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, as a member of the Fulbright Senior Scholars Program.

Prof. Momanyi has published widely in the area of Kiswahili and literature with numerous papers published in both national and international journals. She has authored and co-authored several books and articles in the area of Kiswahili and edited teaching materials for secondary schools. 

Additionally, Prof. Momanyi has served in national boards as a director and has translated both national and international documents and policies into Kiswahili. She has also served as a committee member of several Kiswahili national and international associations and presently she is the Secretary General of the National Kiswahili Association, CHAKITA-Kenya. 

She holds a Bachelor of Education in Kiswahili and History from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Kiswahili Literary Studies from Kenyatta University.

Mr. Barasa completed an undergraduate degree in Biostatistics at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He is adept at running software packages such as R, SAS and SPSS and enjoys data analysis.
